Helen Chew's artist statement:
Why I Create
I started oil painting at eight years old. As the years went by, I found myself behind the camera. I now hold a degree in photography and continue to deepen my painting journey.
A few years ago I lost two beloved pets to old age. Though I expected it, their absence left an enormous hole in my heart. While grieving, my photographs and paintings comforted me, keeping them alive with every stroke and developed film.
Realizing that I would have no more photographs to capture, I decided to capture my own through oil paint.
My Mission
To create a work of art that can become a lasting connection to a pet who is or is no longer with us.
A portrait created for today—for a companion whose presence deserves to be remembered forever.
Helen looks forward to painting an 8x10 portrait of your special pet!
